En esta obra, el Dr. Luis E. A lo largo de los capítulos se describen cuadros semiológicos, alteraciones metabólicas y conductas terapéuticas de las diversas entidades que involucran desequilibrios del agua y sus solutos, alteraciones de contenido, capacidad, osmolaridad y disbalances acidobásicos. También se detallan los estudios de laboratorio necesarios para la clínica y la investigación, como la técnica de balance hidrosalino y la determinación de electrolitos en tejidos. De las más de 600 referencias bibliográficas que avalan los contenidos, 125 son propias del autor y sus colaboradores.
