The CSE exam is developed by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) and is offered once a year, on the last weekend in October, in various locations across the United States. The exam has been revised and the newest version will be offered for the first time in October 2019. This edition of the study guide has been updated to comply with the specifications for the current exam. It provides general information about the exam as well as specific recommendations for preparing for the exam; it: • Provides the qualifications for taking the exam • Explains the exam process and the materials that can be brought to the open-book test • Includes tips for preparing for the exam • Contains lists of reference books and standards to use to prepare for the exam • Lists the five knowledge areas covered by the exam and subtopics in each area • Contains 80 sample questions and answers • Explains the exam scoring process As the sponsoring organization for the exam, ISA works with the CSE Committee to develop and update study materials as well as exam preparation courses. The Control Systems Engineering (CSE) Study Guide is one of key resources for exam preparation.
