Inclusive and Special Recreation: Opportunities for Diverse Populations to Flourish emphasizes the value of inclusive recreation opportunities for all people to flourish, including not only persons with disabilities but also those from all underserved minority groups. The book combines an optimistic approach with a strong conceptual foundation grounded in current research. Key elements in this sixth edition include the most recent population data available for both the United States and Canada; up-to-date coverage of related legislation and accessibility standards; discussion of the World Health Organization’s ICF/ICIDH-2 classification system; examples of successful inclusive and special recreation programs and services; a research-based discussion of how recreation, park, and tourism are means for all individuals to grow and to flourish.
