The Organised Local Government Act 52 of 1997 makes provision for the recognition of national and provincial organisations representing the different categories of municipalities; and determines procedures to designate local government representatives to the National Council of Provinces; by which local government may consult with national and provincial government; and for local government nominations to the Financial and Fiscal Commission.
