The Maintenance Act 99 of 1998 makes provision for the law relating to maintenance. ** The Maintenance of Surviving Spouses Act 27 of 1990 makes provision for the surviving spouse in certain circumstances with a claim for maintenance against the estate of the deceased spouse; and for incidental matters. ** The Reciprocal Enforcement of Maintenance Orders Act 80 of 1963 makes provision for the reciprocal enforcement of maintenance orders made in the Republic, and proclaimed countries, and for incidental matters. ** The Reciprocal Enforcement of Maintenance Orders (Countries in Africa) Act 6 of 1989 makes provision for the reciprocal enforcement of maintenance orders made in the Republic and in designated countries in Africa, and for matters incidental thereto.
